Biordi Art Imports | Best Private Tour Guide North Beach San Francisco
Biordi Art Imports has been a neighborhood treasure in San Francisco’s North Beach since 1946. In fact, this year they celebrated their 75th anniversary with a festive celebration of music and a Proclamation from the City of San Francisco.
When you enter the Biordi Gallery, you will be greeted with an explosion of color – my favorite! I also love art. I attended art school in Florence, and Biordi brings me right back to Italy every time I visit! Each piece in this gorgeous shop is hand painted and hand signed by artisans who live in the Italian hill towns and practice techniques and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
Deborah Baldini, owner of Biordi, has been traveling to Italy twice a year to visit the artists and families and hand picks each of the beautifully crafted ceramics for her shop here in San Francisco. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, she was unable to go last year but continues to support economically devastated families by keeping her doors open (socially distancing of course) and mainly with mail orders. In her efforts, Deborah has managed to not only to keep her own business going but has supported the artists so they can continue to produce ceramics for generations to come.
Just so you know, Biordi is my ‘go to’ place to buy special gifts! When any of my friends or family members get married, have babies, or really any occasion arises, I gift them with a one of a kind piece from Biordi. It is a ‘win win’ situation because I say ‘if you don’t like your present you can always return it to me’! So far that has not happened. Everyone is happy! Added to that each present is hand wrapped with exquisite Florentine paper topped with a large delightful bow.
From traditional art to new and more abstract ceramics there is something for everyone at Biordi Art Imports. There could be nothing more appetizing to the eye and palate than serving a feast Italian style on a set of Biordi’s gorgeous dinnerware.
The Wonderful news is that Deborah will soon be traveling to Italy once again to revisit and celebrate with her Italian artist friends and, no doubt, return with even more dazzling ‘eye candy’ for us to enjoy!
